When you apply for a mortgage, the lender is required to give you a GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE OF CLOSING COSTS. You will want to shop your loan with at least two lenders and compare these two GFE's.
It's important to know that a realtor should never accept any form of commission or monies from a lender. Realtors are thus free to give recommendations solely on the basis of the past performance of the mortgage professional and not because of any inducement.
